New year, new ways we’re meeting patient needs

At AFC, we take a holistic approach to caring for the health of our patients. We screen all of our incoming patients for mental/behavioral health needs and find that many have the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD which may interfere with their ability to manage their physical health.

As the new year starts, we are excited to introduce you to Yesenia, our new onsite counselor who will work to further integrate mental/behavioral health care with our other medical service offerings. Her familiar presence will help our patients feel safe and welcome, and her consistent schedule will allow for a convenient, “real-time” referral pathway for those who could benefit most.

Yesenia is with us thanks to our expanding partnership with Northern Virginia Family Service, who continues to place importance on integrating mental/behavioral health services into primary care settings throughout our community.
