Nancy Sanger Pallesen, Executive Director of AFC Announces her Retirement

DSC_6727_pp-300x300For almost 21 wonderful years, I have been privileged to be the Executive Director of Arlington Free Clinic.  Little did I dream 21 years ago that the Clinic would still be the only affordable source of medical care in Arlington for thousands of people. This achievement is due to the commitment of hundreds of volunteers, staff members and donors who are the heart of AFC. Over the years, we have successfully expanded our scope of care to meet the many complex medical needs of our patients.

I am writing to let you know that I have chosen to retire at the end of 2014.  I am incredibly grateful for having had the opportunity to meet so many truly wonderful people –  patients whose grateful smiles disguise their struggles, volunteers who have such vital roles in making the clinic run and who come year after year to give generously of their time and talent, donors whose loyalty and generosity sustain our ability to do what we do, and current and former members of the staff who are incredibly talented and passionate about their work here.

My retirement only means that the leadership staff position will change. Our mission and service for the Arlington community will not change. The Clinic’s Board of Directors has already begun a wide search for candidates and is committed to finding a new wonderfully talented leader. I encourage you to help us identify qualified individuals who might be interested in the Executive Director position.  Please feel free to pass on the job description detailed in the link below.

Thank you,

Nancy Sanger Pallesen
